What about the ones you see smokers use just an oxygen tank? Surly they are not $5000 @Former-Member
I bet it would be. Yeah I'll share the banana bread as well once I've cooked the lasagna.
That's good I hope things are okay for you?

It’s a bit harder to get access to oxygen tanks, and they require refilling often, which makes it inconvenient when living with immune disease, as well as carrying them - you have to have all sorts of inspections, certifications, storage areas, etc, and they discourage use of them when you live alone because of the risk of explosion under certain circumstances - it’s dangerous if my car is parked in the sun and I can’t carry it to where I need to do while on crutches, for example - so, this is where a portable oxygen concentrator (that doesn’t store oxygen; it makes it on demand) is so much safer and practical… I can leave it unattended in a hot car and nothing happens.
Lots of logistical considerations with O2 tanks 🙂🌺
Ok - can’t wait to see your yum creations when you’re ready 😋☺️🌺
I’m ok thank you dearest 🙂🌺
nothing to worry about here 🦩🙂🌺
how are you doing? 💜

After I posted, I wondered what you'd do about crutches.
What does the oxygen concentrator look like as a portable one? The photo you posted the other day didn't seem that portable.
That's good to hear. I'm pleased.
I'm alright. I have finally finished my assignment. I'm waiting for my mum to read it, and then I'll send it to Studiosity for them to read over and give grammatical feedback. I can have someone read my work from all over the world; it's so cool.
I already had my lab this morning. It was good because I was helping people with C1V1=C2V2 because they had no clue what to do. But it felt good knowing I knew something, and the teacher asked if anyone knew the answers, so I said them to them. I'm getting a lot better at doing that. It's a hard thing for me to do. I don't want to make a fool of myself.
So that's a positive. It was just nice knowing that I'm not dumb and I do know things. Yes, sometimes things might take longer than others, but like today, I already knew it.
I'm just in the lounge room on the couch. @Former-Member
What are you doing this afternoon?

Yes, @Birdofparadise8 being on crutches does make the selection of a portable unit quite narrow, because it has to be carried like a backpack..
a type of portable oxygen concentrator here is one which I could use, and after factoring in postage and the special backpack, it evens out to around $5000.
the unit I have at home is not portable, it’s only designed to be plugged in and basically sit in one spot at home..so, I have 12m of tubing so I can get around the house with it it on while it stays on one place 🌺🙂
Hey that’s awesome you’ve finished your assignment and it’s almost ready to be submitted! Well done on getting a huge project out the way ☺️🌺
and that’s also a massive achievement in helping out your classmates with the solutions/answers - very well done for having the information there ready to give, but just as important is the way you were able to engage, share, and support education by being a teaching peer in your classroom! That’s so great and I want to give you a big congratulations for that! 🙌🏻😀💜🌺
Sounds like you’re relaxing at the moment..?
Same here - on the couch, taking a break 🙂
will be getting into some research reading for a project I’m helping out with, then doing my homework for study ☺️🌺

Wow, that looks heavy to carry on your back.
I'm so sorry you have to go through this.
I don't know how you're such a bright person on here. When having so many health issues.
Also I'm sorry everything is so expensive. If you had private health would that cover anything for things?
Thank you @Former-Member
Well for a moment. I have to take mid-semester exams to study for now. Yay!!!!
What's the research? What's your study?

I think one of the reasons they are so expensive is because they try to use lots of light weight materials and design parameters @Birdofparadise8 🙂🌺
Aw, thanks heaps Birdofparadise8 🤗🌺💜
yes, very expensive. i think private health insurance would be helpful, however I haven’t been able to get it for what I need it for, based on exclusions vs cost if I want to have full cover (and that would still include paying a very high premium while the waiting periods are in place - which wouldn’t work; I need stuff much sooner than the waiting times). Private insurance still doesn’t cover all cost so I would still have significant out of pocket amounts to come up with. For instance, one insurer said annually I would need to pay $8500 as the premium, then they had exclusions, and then there were wait periods of 2 years for the things they did cover. The costs and the waits along with exclusions of things I need aren’t viable for me - not to worry 🙂🌺
Study knowledge testing is so intense these days, isn’t it? I hope the exam prep goes well 🙂
The research reading is for illness screening programs, and some research into systems change (policy of health delivery), and study is for counselling stuff 💜🙂

Ah, okay, that makes sense.
All good.
Yeah, waiting periods suck. My parents have always had good coverage, so I didn't have to worry about psych stuff and waiting periods. It's so funny my mum right had private health when she was pregnant with me and was adamant she wouldn't have me at the public hospital in Hobart. She said no and wanted to go to a private one. You wouldn't believe it because I was three months premature. I was born in a public hospital and stayed there for some time, haha. I find it so funny. I don't know what my mum had against the public hospital. There is definitely nothing wrong; it's more modern than the other two as they are so old. So is the public one, but it keeps being renovated.
However, if I had to go to ED here in Melbourne, I'd have to go public; private is way too much. The one I used to work at, you wouldn't have much change under $1000.
Yes, one exam on Wednesday is an open book and worth 30% of my grade, and the one on Friday is a closed book, and I'll be in the room by myself with the unit convenor as I get extra time and it's online.
The one the week after is online and open-book, so that's good. That's worth 30%.
Then, I will go through this again with three more in May/June. @Former-Member
Are you studying counselling at uni or TAFE? Have I forgotten, sorry.

@Birdofparadise8 hey princess, thanks for your well thought out message. 🥰
I call you princess because I do feel you're special to me. We have a different relationship to others on the forum which is nice. Just like you and @Former-Member have a special connection it's different to our friendship. And that is I believe a positive thing. You have connected with different people in different ways. I think I'm blabbing on again ha ha!
The boundaries thing is in my real life. I've learnt the hard way that when people ask you to speak your mind they don't mean it if you disagree with them or have a different opinion.
I've never felt hurt or challenged by anyone on Sane and it's a testament to the peer guides and members.
So proud of you completing your lab report princess, well done!

Yes, I feel @Former-Member and I have a special connection.
