Welcome to everyone joining us or reading along tonight! Firstly, we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the various different lands across Australia that we are joining this discussion from tonight. We pay respect to the elders of those communities (past and present) and further extend that respect to any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people with us tonight or reading back through the thread.
Our discussion topic tonight was inspired by the passion of a peer support worker who unfortunately no longer works with us here at Sane. This discussion is completely peer led- we are not experts and are leading from a place of passion, interest, and a little research. So with that said;
Firstly, we’ll look at what hormones are and how the D.O.S.E. (Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin and Endorphins) hormones in particular relate to happiness.
Next, we will go through each of the hormones individually by first outlining what each hormone’s role is and then inviting discussion on how we might be able to harness each individual hormone to our advantage given this knowledge.
Finally, we’ll explore how we might be able to harness the happiness hormones in our daily self-care habits.
To begin, we would love to hear from everyone joining us tonight about what has brought you here tonight, and what you’re hoping to get out of the discussion. Everyone is welcome here & thank you for joining us! 😊

To kick things off by first defining what hormones are: Hormones are chemicals produced by various glands in our bodies that travel through the bloodstream acting as messengers to boost mood and promote wellbeing.
& a question for all our community: What do you know about the happy hormones? @Captain24 @Shaz51 @Medicated

I get that! @Captain24 Hopefully we can learn of some ways off each other tonight about how we might be able to hack them a bit more
I don't know a whole lot about them either but I do know that they can drastically improve your mood at times!
